Passageway to Provence

This wonderful painting is an oil done by Nancy Brown after a painting trip to Provence.

  1. My inspiration for this 48"x36" oil painting was the arch overlooking the Provence countryside. The view is seen from Roussillon, a beautiful village known for the ochre colors of the Luberon mountains in France. The afternoon light was perfect, and I was hooked. I made a quick sketch and took photos of the climbing grape vines, stone walls & steps. The only extra element needed for the composition was a basket of lavender, which I added from my imagination. Step up and view Provence!
