Plein Air Painting at the 309 Winery in Bedford, VA

Yesterday we enjoyed a day painting in the gardens behind the 309 Winery in Bedford.  The rain clouds tried to scare us away but instead made the flowers all the more vibrant.  We were enjoying some wine and a great lunch at the 309 Winery Restaurant when the rain started.  A fun day painting, good wine, good lunch and great friends.......a Perfect Day!

This is one of many lighthouses in Maine.  I don't know the name but was on our way to Monhegan Island.

Summer's Glow

This is a small painting of my favorite flower.  I did this in oil, which is my favorite medium.
I am really enjoying doing more oil painting.Posted by Picasa

"Lost and Found"

"lost and Found", My favorite encaustic painting, sold this week in Rocky Mount, Va. My husband, Dave, and I are Featured Artists at the Grainery Gallery through Feb. My Native American totem is the raven and I find them quiet fascinating. The painting is 24"x36", layered hot wax on a wooden board. We are very proud of how well the pottery goes with the paintings. It is great to have the room to hang all of my large paintings at one time and place. Come by and view the paintings and pottery at the gallery.

Capture the Moment

This watercolor painting is by Nancy Luce.  Nancy wrote:
Shelley Koopmann in her art book "Vignettes in Pastel" wrote "In my artwork, I try to stop time and capture a fleeting moment of quiet, a moment of light, a moment of joy, a moment of peace". Inspired by her art and words, I decided to do a quick drawing for the title page of a new sketch book. First I drew 4 paint brushes and a pencil fanned out in my hand. Then I wrote CAPTURE THE MOMENT and lastly added ARTISTS ON THE LOOSE to signify our great group of 16 gals

View From the Cape

Where's the snow??  This scene was from last year's snow storm, but so far we haven't had any winter scenes to paint.  I've been digging through my older photos, but am hoping we get a little white stuff soon.  Winter is my favorite season.  Why, you may ask, am I living in the South?  I'm not sure....

Potted Herbs

This was my herb garden I had planted a couple of summers ago.  I came across it today and decided to share it.  If I decided to paint it again I would try to get the table even, but it is still one of my favorites.
